Philips SBC HC8445 wireless headphones

The Philips SBC HC8445/HC8440/34 rechargeable wireless headphones are handy for watching TV or listening to music while using a treadmill or while others are asleep. At 618 g nett, they are not unduly heavy and they cup adult ears nicely.

Charging requires the headphones to be hooked up to the base of the transmitter, which is powered by a universal power supply. The charge is supposed to last 15 hours but I haven’t tested that since I leave the headphones plugged in most of the time. The headphone powers down automatically so it doesn’t go flat.

The transmitter is plugged into a headphone jack on the sound device such as a TV, but this is a little inconvenient when you have to unplug the unit. and the socket is at the back.

In Use

Notwithstanding this is not a high-end product, it serves my needs well. The treadmill makes enough noise, so the frequency response of 10 – 20,000 Hz and the volume range are adequate. It’s also fine for listening to music when vacuuming 20 m away (I haven’t tested its claimed 100 m range). Earplugs don’t mask the background noise as well. Six months down the track it continues doing its job.

I also have these headphones but I don’t find them comfortable while jogging on the treadmill. I appreciate that the batteries add to the weight but maybe some weight can be reduced if Philips used a sealed battery inside.

i like the product but there are a view things i am not happy about. tirst thing is its very big and above all warm after one hour of listening it floats off your head becouse your ears are getting too warm. second thing: no doc, when you want to charge it you have to connect it to an wire and it has no stand eather and the recriever is too big. third thing there is a irritating noise on the background when you set it loud. the sound is pritty good its very warm and it is in good balance especialy with movies, but after an hour of waching you have an tsunami of sweat in your room.
another bad thing as you have it very loud and there is an big bass iin your music the volume drops to protect your ears or speakers or something very irritating. and in some position there is a very lout peep in the sound becouse of another fm signal or someting irritating too but overal for that price an very good wireless headphine.

Had them 12 months used rarely, worked fine but now will not charge up properly and has excessive distortion when working for it’s maximum time of about 30 minutes. Waste of money.
